Terms and Refunds

Last updated: September 29, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Evgenii Panin, a self-employed developer in Spain who makes Galdr (“we”, “us”; full details in the legal notice). They apply when you download, install, or use the Galdr app for macOS. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Galdr.

Galdr is sold by Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), our reseller and merchant of record. Polar runs the checkout, takes payment, handles taxes, and issues receipts, so your purchase is also subject to Polar’s buyer terms.

1. Free trial

You can use every feature of Galdr free for 14 days from its first launch, without an account or payment details. The trial is how you decide whether Galdr works for you on your Mac, with your recordings, before you pay.

When the trial ends, starting new dictations, file transcriptions, recordings, and other new work needs a license. Everything you already created stays readable, searchable, copyable, and exportable, whether you buy or not.

2. Your license

Galdr is sold as a one-time purchase — there is no subscription. When you buy, you receive a license key by email. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Galdr on up to three Macs that you own or control, for personal or professional work, for as long as you like.

You can move an activation to another Mac at any time: deactivate it in Galdr → Settings → License, or remove it in Polar’s customer portal.

Galdr is licensed, not sold: we and our licensors keep all rights in the app, its name, and its design that are not expressly granted to you here.

3. Updates

Your purchase includes lifetime updates: every future version of the Galdr app, free, for as long as we make it.

If we ever add an optional online service that costs us money to run for each user — for example, processing in the cloud or syncing between devices — we may offer it as a separate subscription. It will always be optional: everything Galdr does on your Mac stays part of your one-time purchase, and no feature you already have will ever be moved behind a subscription.

Galdr checks for updates automatically and asks before installing them; you can turn automatic checks off in Settings → About.

4. What you may not do

5. Refunds

Because you can try every feature free for 14 days before buying, purchases are final and are not refunded, except in these cases:

To ask for a refund, write to [email protected] with your order email. Approved refunds are paid by Polar to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days, and the license key is deactivated.

Right of withdrawal (EU, EEA, and UK consumers). Galdr is digital content supplied right away. By completing your purchase you ask for the license key to be delivered immediately, and you acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once it is delivered. This doesn’t affect the refund cases above or your statutory rights if the app is faulty or not as described.

6. Automatic results

Transcripts, speaker labels, cleaned text, translations, and summaries are produced automatically by speech and language models and can contain mistakes — a misheard word, the wrong speaker, a summary point that isn’t quite right. Check anything important against the recording before you rely on it. Galdr is not a medical, legal, financial, or other professional tool and must not be used as one.

7. Third-party components

Galdr includes open-source software and uses speech and language models made by others, each under its own license. Features built on Apple Intelligence and Apple Translation are subject to Apple’s terms. The full list and license texts are in Galdr → Settings → About → Show Full License Texts.

8. Termination

Your license ends automatically if you break these terms, for example by sharing your key. It also ends if your purchase is refunded or charged back. When it ends, you must stop using the licensed features; your own data stays yours.

9. No warranty

We work hard to make Galdr reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those the law requires, including that Galdr will be error-free or suit a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything related to Galdr is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, such as lost data, lost profits, or business interruption. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer.

11. Changes and applicable law

We may update these terms, for example when Galdr gains new features. The version on this page applies from its date; if a change materially affects a license you already bought, it won’t reduce what you paid for.

These terms are governed by the law of Spain. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there or in Spain.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms: [email protected]. Postal details are in the legal notice.
